Holly Sweeney has spoken for the first time about her love split from Rory McIlroy, revealing: "I never thought he would do this to me."
In an interview with the Irish Sunday Mirror newspaper, Sweeney explained how her world came crashing down when the multi-millionaire golf star started seeing world tennis No1 Caroline Wozniacki after they split up.
She said: "I think I was just in shock with what had happened. We hadn't been back together very long and I thought things were going really well, but then to be sat down and told - that was just a shock."

Sweeney added: "I was just upset that he hadn't learned anything from the separation before. I felt like all the effort I put in to make the relationship work was completely wasted."
When asked whether she thought McIlroy's relationship with Wozniacki would last, Sweeney replied: "I think he's done things completely differently with Caroline than he did with me, and they seem to be loved up. So yes, I think it will last a good while."
