David Bowie has denied claims that he has given permission for his material to be used in a new stage musical.
It was reported over the weekend that the singer had granted permission for his hits to be used in a "futuristic" biopic entitled Heroes: The Musical, due to open at the IndigO2 in March 2012.
However, a statement from his official spokesman released today said: "Neither the David Bowie Organisation, nor its co-publishers EMI Music and Chrysalis, has issued a license for this performance at the O2."
They added: "There are no negotiations pending for a long running musical featuring the music of Mr. Bowie."
Bowie released his last album in 2003, and is thought to have since thrown in the towel on his recording career.
