The X Factor judge, Gary Barlow, has apologised to T’Pau’s Carol Decker following comments that he made about her on Saturday's show.

One of the talent show’s remaining five contestants, Amelia Lily, performed T’Pau’s 1987 hit China in Your Hand and Barlow used this as an opportunity to comment on Decker’s original version.

He said: “I remember the original of this song. It's really nice to hear it in tune.”

Decker later responded to Barlow on her Twitter page (@caroldecker): "Gary Barlow... & I had to suffer a Take That concert for the sake of my kids this summer.”

Before adding: “@GBarlowOfficial What's your problem? I actually have perfect pitch."

However, Barlow responded on his Twitter page: “@caroldecker Sincere apologies for my comment.there was no need. And sorry you had to sit through TT show. The things we do for our kids!" [sic]
