Janet Devlin had a difficult night on The X Factor on Saturday, complaining that she felt sick, and telling the judges and audience: "Maybe it was something I ate."

During her first of two songs on Saturday's show, where the theme was Heroes and Guilty Pleasures, she was unable to sing some of the words and looked extremely uncomfortable during Hanson's MMMBop.

In return, she received strong criticism from the judges, with Louis Walsh asking: “Did you forget the words? You kind of messed up, but at least you carried on. It wasn't great, but I believe in you.”

Tulisa Contostavlos was next and she agreed, adding: “You look upset, maybe the nerves took over? I found it quite mediocre. I know you're capable of more.”

Gary Barlow pulled no punches when he added: “It was a real mess. For the second time, you've forgotten the words. You are not a groove vocalist, you shouldn't be singing that.”

However, her mentor Kelly Rowland said: “There's always the second song. You're a fighter, remember that.”

Following the judges' comments, Dermot O'Leary asked her how she forgot her words. Devlin replied: "It's not my fault if I feel like I'm going to throw up. Maybe it was something I ate."

Luckily her second song, Under the Bridge by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, saw her give a better performance. However, Barlow still said she had a bad night.
