Dermot O'Leary is to present a special programme on BBC Radio 2 this Christmas, telling the story behind the classic Pogues Christmas song, Fairytale of New York.
Behind the Fairytale (of New York) will be broadcast on Saturday December 24 on BBC Radio 2 from 10.00-11.00pm.
The BBC says of the song and show: "Written by Pogues frontman Shane McGowan and banjo player Jem Finer in 1987, the programme discovers how Kirsty McColl came to sing the vocals by accident, recalls public reaction and assesses the lasting legacy of the song to this day."
