RTÉ Radio 1's Mooney show is counting down to its Guinness World Record attempt tomorrow – for 'Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Leprechauns'.

Presenter Derek Mooney, his team, leprechaun-attired Olympic Silver medallist Kenny Egan and over 300 leprechauns will gather outside Dublin's Grand Canal Theatre tomorrow afternoon as they seek to beat the current record holder, NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

The event will be broadcast live on Wednesday's Mooney on RTÉ Radio 1 from 3pm.

Presenter Mooney said: "We are determined to get one up on Jay Leno. We are going for 300 or more leprechauns in one place. He only managed to get 224 leprechauns in one place, we've an entire nation and we're going to take him on!"

Those interested in the wearing of the green, must be in situ in Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2 from 2pm on Wednesday November 16.

In order to break the Guinness World Record for 'Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Leprechauns', all participants must be in full costume simultaneously and remain so for a minimum of 10 minutes.
