Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote, who plays Katy, has said that she feared a backlash from fans over a current big storyline in the soap. Warning: Spoiler Alert!
This week Foote’s Katy is at odds with Chesney (Sam Aston) when he insists that Schmeichel is given an expensive, life-saving operation.
With the couple expecting their first baby, Katy tells Chesney that they need to focus on paying their rent instead of paying for the operation.

In an interview on This Morning Foote said: "I was a bit like, 'Oh, I'm going to get hate mail!' Because I'm being quite mean - but really she's just thinking about the baby.
"[Schmeichel is] such a big part of Chesney. Everyone loves little Chesney, and Chesney's always had his little dog. I've come along and kicked the dog out!
As for Katy’s future with Chesney, Foote said that things will work out despite "an up and down 18 months.
She added: "I think Chesney does as well - but things keep coming up and getting in the way all the time, like all this with Fiz and all this with Schmeichel as well at the minute. They're trying their hardest and they will get through it, I'm sure."
