Following its record-breaking season two premiere, US cable network AMC has announced that it has renewed zombie drama The Walking Dead for a third series.
Charlie Collier, AMC President, said: "Today we are pleased to announce that the 'dead' shall live as we proudly renew The Walking Dead for a third season.
"We are thankful for everyone's contribution in front of and behind the camera as we continue to make The Walking Dead a unique television experience. And, we are so proud as it continues to set viewership records around the world."
The season premiere of The Walking Dead on US television attracted an audience of 7.3m viewers, with over 10m watching on pay TV around the world.
