Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine says that quitting drink has increased her vocal range.

The singer banned booze at her shows last year after her mother became worried about her onstage stunts. She’s stuck to her pledge, and says she is now noticing other plus points of staying sober.

“This is the best job in the world and I don't want to spoil it,” she tells The Sun. "I have stopped drinking on tour. I feel a bit more responsibility for my body and for my fans who come to see us. I had shows every day and I can't do that with a hangover. So I've been good to myself.

“Stopping drinking has made a huge difference to my vocal range too."

Welch releases her second album Ceremonials this Friday.
