It hasn't even been a year since Laila Rouass graced the Holby City set, but the star who plays the part of Sahira Shah has decided to leave the show.
The actress who was announced as a new regular last November, is expected to depart the medical drama in April or May next year.
A BBC spokesperson confirmed that Rouass is leaving "by mutual consent" to pursue new projects.
Rouass's character, who is married, has recently been involved in a flirtation with fellow doctor Greg Douglas played by Irish actor Edward Macliam.
Rouass's first Holby City episode aired in February.
