After bosses made major changes to the huge budget, Johnny Depp’s axed film The Lone Ranger is back in production.

According to NDTV, a few months back Disney chiefs halted the film after a reported dispute with director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer over finances.

Pirates of the Caribbean star Depp was to play Tonto opposite Armie Hammer’s Lone Ranger in the film.

Depp now has revealed that he is glad the project is moving forward.

Speaking to the Daily Express, he said: "We knew that the budget was going to be huge initially, and we also knew that it was going to be shut down for a while, and it was kind of like we patiently wait -- we shave a little bit here, we do a little bit there, (and) they fix it,"

The budget is reported to have been brought down from £174 million to £136 million.
