Irish actor Michael Fassbender is to reunite with Steve McQueen for 12 Years A Slave.
The movie tells the true story of Solomon Northrup, a New York citizen who was kidnapped in Washington in 1841, and sold to a cotton plantation in Louisiana. Northrup was enslaved for over a decade, before being rescued in 1853.
Fasssbender and McQueen have previously worked together on Hunger and Shame.
Fassbender’s portrayal of sex addict businessman Brandon in Shame earned him a Best Actor Award at this year’s Venice Film Festival in September.
Hunger also proved to be a huge success winning six IFTAs, the Cannes Golden Camera award, a BAFTA for McQueen for most promising newcomer and EFA award of best Discovery of the year.
12 Years a Slave will be produced by Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B, with Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner producing.
Production is set to begin early next year.
