While the new batch of X Factor hopefuls prepare for their first live show tomorrow night, controversial singer Katie Waissel from last year's group has relaunched herself as the lead singer of a rock group.
The group had their unveiling last night at the London Lifestyle Awards. The band, entitled Red Velvet Lovers, is made up of Waissel and three backing musicians. The band was announced in July but haven't publicly stepped out until now.

The band's Twitter page, with 600 followers, has often updated news of jamming sessions and rehearsals but no music will be released just yet. Waissel stated in July that the band is making "dirty, sexy, rock'n'roll" and is "very highly influenced by Transvision Vamp, Joan Jett And The Black Hearts, a bit of Blondie, a bit of No Doubt.
She promised the music "will still be mainstream but we will push the boundaries a bit".
Waissel had shortlived fame surrounding a single release following her television stint, even performing on The Late Late Show earlier this year. Other acts including One Direction, Cher Lloyd and Belle Amie have released singles, with Rebecca Ferguson set to release her first single in the coming months.
