Johnny Depp is considering playing Cat in the Hat author Theodor Seuss Geisel in a film about the writer's life.
The Hollywood Reporter says the Pirates Of The Caribbean actor is set to play Dr Seuss, the renowned American writer and cartoonist in the live action film which may also have some animated segments.
Depp will produce the project with Christi Dembrowski, Christopher Meledandri and David Kennedy, while Keith Bunin will write the screenplay.
Some of Theodor Geisel's work has been made into film. In 2000, How The Grinch Stole Christmas was released, and three years later The Cat In The Hat was made.
Geisel began his career drawing political cartoons during WW II before switching to children’s books.
