Bill Cullen has fired the first candidate from the new series of The Apprentice, which kicked off on TV3 last night.

Aisling Smith was sent home after her performance as project manager in the opening task failed to impress Cullen.

The teams had to make and sell sandwiches to accompany a vitamin drink, but her team only made a €19 profit.

According to The Daily Star, Aisling came back from Australia to Ireland to take part in the show, where the Cavan native worked as a production co-ordinator.

In the new series of the show the budding entrepreneurs battle to win a €200,000 investment to start up or develop their own company with Bill Cullen as their business partner.
