The BBC has revealed that Jessie J is the first of the four mentors on its new musical talent series The Voice UK, which begins in the spring.

The Price Tag star said of her new role: "I'm excited to be a coach, inspiration and mentor and I jumped at the opportunity as it's all about the voice."

BBC One controller Danny Cohen said: "Jessie J is going to be an amazing coach on The Voice UK. She's a massive young star with a strong personality, and her recent Mobo nominations are testament to her musical and creative ability."

Lenny Kravitz has also been linked with a role as a mentor on the show, which the BBC says will be "all about the voice" with "no room for comedy performances or people who rely on looks to get them through".
