RTÉ Radio 1 presenter Derek Mooney’s bid to topple Jay Leno’s Guinness World Record gathers pace.
As revealed yesterday on RTÉ TEN and live on Mooney, Derek is planning to get one over on the American chat-show host by gathering the largest number of leprechauns in the one place.
In an interview with RTÉ TEN, he said: “We are going for 300 or more Leprechauns on one place. He [Leno] only managed to get 224 leprechauns in one place. We’ve an entire nation and we’re going to take him on!
“Once we have everybody registered [here] we can then contact them and tell them exactly how it’s going to work, what time they need to assemble, what they’ll need to bring with them, and how its going to operate on the day.
“We’ll be broadcasting live on the day from the Grand Canal Theatre; hopefully we’ll invite the world’s media to attend the mass gathering of leprechauns.”
Derek added: “Rumour has it that Louis Walsh is going to turn up as a leprechaun but it’s only a rumour and you can’t believe everything you hear about leprechauns!"
