Steps are the latest pop band trying to patch things up and consider going on tour again. But a full-blown reunion isn’t on the cards just yet.
In a new show on Sky Living, which aired last night, the band tried to get over their acrimonious split in 2001. Claire and H handed in their resignation backstage after a show in Manchester that year, leaving Lisa, Faye and Lee stunned.
Steps star Ian 'H' Watkins says he has no regrets about the band breaking up – but a decade on he’s admitted he could have handled the split better.
H, who is hoping to bring up a baby with his partner Craig, says that his "only regret is that it ended like it did".
But he adds: "If I were to revisit it and turn the clock back, I would probably have done it exactly the same way."
Meanwhile, Claire, who competed on ITV’s Popstar to Operastar earlier this year, claims that her relationship with her female band-mates broke down when she overheard them complaining about her role as 'lead' singer.
As the series progresses, fans will be able to see Steps attempt to put their differences behind them, as they reminisce about their success, leading up to deciding if they want to reunite properly.
And the band believes there is a gap in the market for their brand of "happy pop".
