R&B star Rihanna was asked to stop filming a music video in Co Down yesterday when the owner of the field felt that the scenes were "inappropriate".

Following reports that the R&B singer was in Northern Ireland, dozens of fans gathered at a field outside Bangor to catch a glimpse of the Barbadian Umbrella singer.

However the owner of the field asked that filming end earlier than originally planned when he felt it had become "inappropriate".

DUP Alderman Alan Graham spoke on RTÉ Radio 1's Morning Ireland to say that he had met the singer after he asked for filming to cease and found her 'most gracious'. He said that they shook hands and parted on good terms.

He added that he was unsure if Rihanna and her team got all of the footage that the needed.

Those working at the shoot were keeping tight-lipped about the name of the single, which will feature on her sixth studio album due out before Christmas.

The 23-year-old singer has sold 20 million records worldwide and is set to play three concerts at Belfast's Odyssey Arena later this week, before performing at Dublin's 02 this Monday, October 3.
