A contestant has become the first ever person who has chosen to quit TV talent show The X Factor.

Spoiler alert!

Goldie Cheung (49) was selected to compete in the show’s live rounds but has dramatically walked out. According to the Mail on Sunday, Cheung was anxious that she would be paraded as a "joke act".

The mother of two was quite a wow during the auditions with her skimpy outfits and theatrical moves – at one point she threw her leg around judge Gary Barlow. She was subsequently chosen as one of the 16 acts picked for boot camp at the X Factor base in Hertfordshire. But Cheung failed to show at the £5 million villa as scheduled last Sunday.

An X Factor spokesman confirmed that the Hong Kong-born Cheung had left the show for "personal reasons". But The Mail on Sunday claims that her dramatic departure was due to her fears of being made a laughing stock.

Cheung can be seen doing her thing - with a piano and Barlow - on tonight's edition of the ITV show.
