A new Scarface movie is in the works at Universal Pictures.
According to Deadline, a new version of the movie based on elements of the 1932 original, and 1983 film will be developed upon. The movie is not intended to be a remake or a sequel.
Both productions told the story of an immigrant who becomes involved in crime and becomes well known for all the wrong reasons. His weaknesses eventually contribute to his own downfall.
Al Pacino took on the iconic title role in Brian De Palma's Scarface, co-starring Steven Bauer, Michelle Pfeiffer and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio.
It is reported that the new take on the film will be produced by the last Scarface producer Martin Bregman, with chairman of Universal Pictures Marc Shmuger.
Pacino is currently working on a gangster drama Gotti: In The Shadow Of My Father, which is directed by Barry Levinson.
Other celebrities set to appear in the movie include; Kelly Preston, John Travolta and Lindsay Lohan.
