Adele, Arctic Monkeys and Jessie J lead the nominations for this year's Q Awards, with three each.

Double Mercury-prize winner PJ Harvey, Coldplay and Ed Sheernan are among the names in the running for two prizes, as the shortlists for the awards were announced.

Competing for the magazine's "best band in the world today" gong are of U2, Muse, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys.

Adele has two nominations in the best track category for her singles Rolling In The Deep and Someone Like You, as well as being nominated in the best female artist category alongside Beyonce, Jessie J, PJ Harvey and Laura Marling.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in The Grosvenor House Hotel in London on October 24.
