The makers of Coronation Street have announced that Nigel Havers will reprise his role as Lothario Lewis Archer next year.
A statement on the Coronation Street website reads: "Lewis famously left Audrey (Sue Nicholls) heartbroken, after he almost stole £100,000 from her and managed to scam the bookies - getting caught on CCTV kissing Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) in the process.
"Audrey was devastated by his betrayal, but found he had not taken her money. Instead he left a photograph of them together with the words "I tried" written on the back, before he fled.
"Last seen, Lewis was at an airport and seemed to be about to try to charm his way into another woman's life, when he met Lydia Radcliffe (Lysette Anthony).
"But now, with Lewis about to return to Weatherfield, is there more heartbreak ahead for Audrey or could things finally be looking up?"
