Ronan Keating has admitted that he couldn't have completed a recent charity swim without the support he received from his wife, Yvonne.

The Boyzone star, who swam 56 miles across the Irish sea to raise money for Cancer Research and the Marie Keating Foundation, told the Mirror newspaper, that he couldn’t have participated in the swim without the support of his wife.

When asked about their relationship he said: "We're doing great. I love her to bits and I couldn't have done this without her.

He added: "Yvonne has been on the boat for the last few days which has been fantastic. It's been wonderful. When I was down and feeling sorry for myself and feeling I wasn't able to do it, she was there pushing me on and helping me through it and being a shoulder when I needed it."

The When You Say Nothing At All singer explained that the swim was by no means easy, saying: "There's the cold to deal with but worse is the jellyfish called Lion's Mane. They are seriously, seriously dangerous. And we came across hundreds of them. I remember putting my face in the water during my second swim and they were all around me."

He further pitched in: "It scared the bejesus out of me. I lost my breath. They are like a brain just sitting there under the surface.

"And I didn't like swimming at night time. It's pitch black and your imagination runs away with you. I was imagining all sorts of creatures."
