The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) has launched a new network called IFTA London, "designed to foster productive relations between the Irish and UK film and television industries".
The launch took place on Wednesday night in the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' (BAFTA) headquarters in London, with actors Ruth Bradley, Elaine Cassidy, Ciarán Hinds, Allen Leech, Robert Sheehan and Eileen Walsh and directors Ken Loach, Jim Sheridan and Dearbhla Walsh among those in attendance.
Speaking at the launch, IFTA Chief Executive Áine Moriarty said: "There is a great spirit of partnership, business and cultural links, between Ireland and the UK that makes us so much more than just neighbours – and this is especially true when it comes to the links that exist between the creative industries and communities."
As part of IFTA London, there will be a number of major events in the city, including an exclusive season of IFTA premiere screenings of films from new Irish filmmakers; a spotlight season on key Irish talents behind the camera and a Jim Sheridan season and masterclass.
More details will be announced on: www.facebook.com/iftaonline and Twitter www.twitter.com/ifta shortly.
