Judy Belushi, John's wife, is working on a Blues Brothers TV show.

Judy is co-owner of the TV rights to the Blues Brothers along with Dan Aykroyd. She has teamed up with Saturday Night Live writer Anne Beatts, as well as Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty to write a pilot script for the potential TV show.

Variety reports that no casting decisions have been made yet but that Dan Aykroyd is on board to voice Jake and Elwood's parole officer.

The pilot script follows the pair as they are released from prison and Elwood searches for his Dad.

If the series is picked up each episode would feature a new song from the Blues Brothers Band.

Anne Beatts described it: "It would be 'Route 66' meets 'Glee,' and it all goes to hell in a handbasket."

Judy Belushi said:"I think these are great American characters. We want to keep them alive. We chose to introduce them as new characters but do it in a way that they have some history, have some life behind them."

Beatts added: "We're not trying to replicate Dan and John but Jake and Elwood."
