Angelina Jolie has responded to claims that she is planning to marry her partner Brad Pitt, to adopt more children with him and as to whether she is currently pregnant.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jolie, who appears on the October cover has replied to reports that she is set to wed Pitt in a private ceremony by saying: “[There's] no secret wedding."

With regards to plans to expand her family, she added: “I’m not pregnant. I’m not adopting at the moment."

She was eager however to talk about her debut as a writer-director of the Bosnian war love story In the Land of Blood and Honey.

She explained the origins of the film script: “I had the flu. I had to be quarantined from the children for two days. I was in the attic of a house in France.

“I was isolated, pacing. I don’t watch TV and I wasn’t reading anything. So I started writing. I went from the beginning to the end. I didn’t know any other way.”

She revealed Pitt’s reaction after reading her script: “He called and said, ‘You know, honey, it’s not that bad’."

After the script was ready, Jolie lined up her cast of unknown actors from Bosnia: “It couldn’t be anybody else. It’s their story.

"It was important that they were willing to do it. If none of them were willing, I wouldn’t have made it.”

She said that the decision to direct was a simple one: “It was something I didn’t trust out of my hands.

“So by default I ended up putting myself in as director.”

She also shared her fears for the film: “I’ve never felt more exposed. My whole career, I’ve hidden behind other people’s words.

"Now it’s me talking. You feel ridiculous when you get something wrong.”

Speaking about Pitt, she added: “He’s been so supportive. But it’s hard to separate the person that loves you from the critic, so I don’t think he’s a fair judge”.

After making her directorial debut, she also said that he thinks she will be trouble for other directors when she returns to acting: “Brad thinks I’m going to be a nightmare.

"I had such a good experience he thinks I'm going to be impatient with directors, which I already am."
