Ricky Gervais: in talks with Sky about two potential shows

Ricky Gervais has started talks about two new comedy projects on British satellite channel Sky One.

Gervais's already involved in Sky One's An Idiot Abroad with Karl Pilkington, which is due to return in September.

The channel's controller Stuart Murphy confirmed at the Edinburgh TV Festival that he had been for dinner with the Office comic and discussed potential future shows.

"He was on about a particular comedian, he said he'd always wanted to do something with him, he had this particular idea and described this character who was unacceptable and un-PC," said Murphy.

"I was, like, perfect - let's go straight to series. Let's do it."

Murphy added: "On my side. He's pushing against a open door . . . I owe it to my team and the viewers who pay £20-a-month for Sky. I'd hope the person in charge of Sky would have the balls to commission Ricky Gervais on a one-on-one pitch."
