Al Pacino said hello to his little friends once again last night, when he reunited with his Scarface co-stars in Los Angeles to mark the Blu-ray DVD release of the gangster classic.
The 71-year-old actor joined Steven Bauer, Robert Loggia and F Murray Abraham and producer Martin Bregman at the Belasco Theater, where they shared memories about making the Brian De Palma-directed movie.
Pacino said he wanted to do a remake after seeing Paul Muni in the 1932 original, and director Sidney Lumet suggested he make the main character Cuban instead of Italian.
When asked about the content of the 1983 movie, Pacino said: "The violence of it at the time was very staggering and they were thinking of giving it an x-rating at the time, y'know, because of all the f's in it."
He added: "But at the same time, it wasn't as violent as a lot of pictures were."
