A swarm of One Direction fans gathered outside the RTÉ studios this afternoon and chased a blacked-out mini-van across the campus in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the teenage heartthrobs - and they were not disappointed!

As the boys posed outside the RTÉ radio building, they were quickly ushered inside for an exclusive interview with 2FM's Rick O' Shea, followed by a live performance of their new single. They then took their time chatting to fans and signing autographs.

RTÉ TEN quizzed the fans about their favourite group with 16-year-old Aoife claiming that she is One Direction’s biggest fan and is hoping to ask Liam Payne for his hand in marriage today. As she clasped her giant-sized Marry Me poster in one hand, she told RTÉ TEN: "Liam Payne is so talented and if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have watched the X Factor. One Direction should have won the show - no one will ever compare to them. I am going to ask Liam to marry me."

When asked about their new single What Makes You Beautiful the excited teenager continued to say: "I already know all of the lyrics, and have the song on repeat in on my Ipod."
