A painful back injury is preventing Victoria Beckham from holding baby Harper or leaving the house unaided, according to reports.

Since giving birth on July 10 Victoria has not be seen in public, and it was rumoured that she was desperately trying to get back her post-baby figure behind closed doors. However, now the real reason for Victoria’s hibernation has surfaced, - apparently the 37-year-old designer is suffering from a slipped disc.

According to the Mirror newspaper, a team of chiropractors have been treating the former Spice Girl at her Malibu home.

Victoria Beckham is in too much pain to hold baby Harper.

An insider close to the newspaper said: "Rumours Victoria has been frantically exercising and trying to lose her baby weight could not be further from the truth."

They added: The cruel reality is she was suffering with a bad back throughout her pregnancy, and then something untoward happened during the C-section, badly aggravating it."

The source continued to say: "She has had an X-ray which showed she has slipped a disc in her lower back. Victoria is in a lot of pain and even struggling to hold Harper."

It is reported that the Let Your Head Go singer has been told to rest. Last night David Beckham indicated that Victoria is going through a difficult time saying: We make sure that the most important thing to us is our family and we’re all grounded. We’re in the process of putting it in bottles now, so I get to feed her, which has been amazing."

Victoria is set to showcase her Spring/Summer 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week next month.
