Rebecca Black's mother has taken her out of high-school to be home schooled following abusive comments from her classmates.

Black, who achieved fame when her youtube hit Friday earned 167 million views, spoke about the bullying during an interview with ABC's Primetime Nightline.

"When I walk by they'll start singing Friday in a really nasally voice," she said. "Or, you know, they'll be like, 'Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?'"

Black's mother Georgina Kelly decided to take her out of school and home school her to avoid the bullying.

"She certainly did not need that kind of pressure," she said.

"It's hard to go to school when you are so famous and to have kids constantly making fun of what's going on."

Apart from bullying in school, Black has also received death threats online which the FBI was called in to investigate.

"There's not a stone that's left unturned when it comes to her safety," said Kelly.

Black seems to be taking the attention in her stride.

"I've had a lot of experience with not being liked and all that," she said.

"I think if I hadn't had to deal with that in the past then I totally would have handled this differently and I would have gone down in burning flames. But I've learned that you just can't let it get to you."
