He may have found himself in the sing-off in week one and again in week three - but it looks like Irish boy Damian McGinty won’t be going home any time soon!
After selling over one million records to date with Celtic Thunder and jet-setting all around the globe, it was only a matter of time before 18-year-old McGinty became a star in his own right.
From mistakenly wishing he “was Jessie’s Girl” during Individuality week, to tapping into his own emotional experiences with Are You Lonesome Tonight for the Vulnerability challenge - Damian has quickly become a strong contender on the hit US TV show, The Glee Project.
Although he may not be the best dancer among the bunch of contestants, his Irish charm and perseverance made him stand out from the crowd during the Dance Ability task.
Each week the team of judges, consisting of executive producer Ryan Murphy, casting director Robert Ulrich and choreographer Zach Woodlee, have consistently praised Damian for his progress – and by the looks of it, he has become a hot favourite amongst the panel.

With over 90,000 Twitter fans and a bucket load of Facebook friends, it appears that Irish boy McGinty is impressing more than just the juding panel.
In the latest episode of The Glee Project entitled Pairability, Damian was teamed with Matheus for his duet. Despite Matheus' best efforts during Nancy Sinatra's These Boots Are Made For Walkin, it was Damian's enthusiasm and perfect pitch that stole the performance.

Damien was originally picked out of 40,000 people to be on the show based on his two-minute online video.
In a recent interview with RTÉ TEN, McGinty discussed his chances of succeeding in the competition saying: “I think the fact that I am Irish can bring something very different to Glee, because they haven't really featured that many people outside of America on the show yet - certainly no one with a strong accent."

The winner of the show will be cast in a seven-episode guest role in season three of the hit show Glee on Fox.
