With a colossal $1.14 billion and counting, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is now the third highest-grossing movie of all time.
The statistics behind the fantasy movie’s irresistible rise are phenomenal. In just 26 days it has passed the $1.14 billion mark globally, racing past the previously third placed The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King last week, when it opened in China.
But it’s unlikely that the final instalment in the HP franchise will ever be king of the box-office world. The top two spots are both filled by James Cameron behemoths, Avatar ($2.8 billion) and Titanic ($1.8 billion).
It is predicted that the eight, and final, Harry Potter film will peak at approximately $1.4 billion.
