Irish film director John Moore is reportedly in talks to direct Hollywood blockbuster Die Hard 5.
According to movie website Twitch, the Dundalk native has been told that he is first choice for the film after Noam Murro had to depart due to the high demands of making the 300 prequel, Xerxes.
The latest Die Hard will see hero John McClane (Bruce Willis) team up with his son in a bid to foil criminal forces in Russia. The script is by X-Men Origins: Wolverine writer Skip Woods.
Willis, who starred in the first four Die Hard films, said last year that shooting on the fifth film is likely to go ahead in 2011. The actor also admitted that he only wants to do two more films in the action franchise.
"In the next few years they could easily find a replacement for me or call the character someone else,” he said. “But for me, I want to do Die Hard 5, then one final Die Hard movie - Die Hard 6 - before finally hanging that white vest up for good.
"At the moment, I can run and I can fight on screen. But there will come a time when I no longer want to do that. That's when I'll step away from the Die Hard films."
