Coronation Street star Antony Cotton, who plays Sean in the soap, has revealed that he has signed a new contract.

The actor, who has played the role of barman and factory worker Sean Tully since 2003, shared the news via Twitter while watching UTV's The Corrie Years.

"Sat watching The Corrie Years and I'm not ashamed to say that I am shedding a tear watching Hayley and Roy's story. And I have to say how proud I am to be in a show that has not only supported but celebrated characters like Hayley and Sean.

"I have just signed my 9th contract with the show and I couldn't be prouder to be in the show. Thank you Coronation Street, you are amazing!"

Sean's character is currently looking after his son Dylan with some help from his boyfriend Marcus, however Coronation Street insiders recently suggested that their relationship will come under threat when Dylan returns home to his mother Violet later this year.

Samia Smith, who play Maria in the soap announced last week that she too had signed a new contract to stay on the cobbles.
