X-Factor bosses blew £10,000 on a private jet to take judge Gary Barlow 19 miles to a Take That gig – but he was still late, according to reports.

The 40-year-old X-Factor judge was taken from the talent show auditions at London’s O2 Arena to nearby London City Airport.

From there the Mirror reports that the star took a seven minute flight trip to RAF Northolt and was driven to nearby Wembley Stadium where his band was performing.

According to insiders, Barlow’s chauffeur driven car was held up in traffic and he missed the start of the soundcheck.

It is reported that the short trip would have cost £5 on the Tube and taken 50 minutes.

A show source has revealed: “We shelled out all this money for a private plane as we wanted him to see all the auditions and get to his gigs."

They added: "It sounds a lot but we thought it was the best way to get him to Wembley."

They further pitched in: "Gary is seen as being the new Simon Cowell on the show this year, and he certainly travelled like him.”
