Nicolas Cage is set to play both the human and the supernatural side of Marvel comics superhero Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

According to Superhero Hype the actor is to replace the CGI version of the supernatural character seen in the original.

In an interview with the site, Cage said: "One of the things this movie gave me the chance to do, which I didn't get to do in the first one, is play Ghost Rider, which is interesting to me because it's all about how do you move if you're from a different dimension?"

Cage admitted that he will base the paranormal character on a cobra: "[Directors] Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine and I all got in a room and explored different movements and body language, referenced some animals - and cobra kept coming back to me."

Crank director Taylor has also claimed that the sequel is "completely different from its predecessor".

Eva Mendes has said that she will not reprise her role as Cage's love interest Roxanne Simpson however Highlander’s Christopher Lambert is reported to be interested in appearing in the film.
