Armie Hammer has been confirmed to reprise his role as The Social Network's Winklevoss twins in The Simpsons.
The 24-year-old actor was chosen for a guest appearance in the animated comedy instead of the real-life siblings Cameron and Tyler, who sued Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg for allegedly stealing the idea for the website.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Hammer will make his appearance as the Winklevoss twins in an episode due to be scheduled next year entitled 'The D'oh-cial Network'.
"Lisa creates a social network site in Springfield and gives too much credit to everybody, so we thought of doing a joke involving the Winklevoss twins," Simpsons’ executive producer Al Jean explained.
"We were like, 'Wait, [Hammer] played them, that's who people think they are, we should just get him. It's not like they're going to sue us'."
The episode is also believed to feature an homage to The Social Network's celebrated rowing scene, in which the Winklevoss twins race against Springfield's Patty and Selma.
