Springsteen tops political poll

A survey conducted in the US suggests that Bruce Springsteen would top the poll if he were to run against the governor of New Jersey.

The Public Polling Policy survey decided to drop the rocker’s name into a two-horse race with Republican incumbent, Chris Christie, to see what would happen.

The results of the fun poll, conducted from July 15 to 18, were interesting: although a tie was predicted with both candidates garnering 42%, the survey indicated that New Jersey’s most famous son would wipe the floor with Christie on a favourability rating.

"Springsteen has favourability numbers any politician would die for," PPP said in a press release.

In the past the man, who penned such classics as The River and Born in the USA, has never been shy of declaring his political allegiances or his frustration with the establishment.

He refused to play at Christie’s inauguration.

Springsteen has not commented on the poll or whether he would run for political office but then again, as he wrote some thirty years ago, he was Born to Run.
