Nigel Havers has been confirmed as the latest star to join the cast of Downton Abbey.
The veteran actor, perhaps best known for the title role in The Charmer and his stint on I'm a Celebrity, will play Lord Hepworth in ITV’s top-rated period drama.
Havers (59) was most recently seen on TV in Coronation Street as male escort Lewis Archer who was hired by Audrey Roberts.
The actor will be joined in the series by another newcomer, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries actress Sharon Small.
Downton Abbey was one of the most popular shows of last Christmas and in a much touted head-to-head with a revival of the 70s period drama, Upstairs Downstairs, come out well on top.
Coincidentally Havers had a cameo role in the original drama.
