The plotline for the return of Eastenders bad girl Mandy Salter, played by Nicola Stapleton, has been revealed. WARNING: Spoiler alert!
The Sun newspaper and Digital Spy both report that Mandy re-emerges as a stripper in a lap dancing club.
The character has been absent from the square for 17 years, having seemingly fled to Ireland to re-connect with boyfriend Aidan (Sean Maguire) in 1994.
Stapleton, who has had parts in Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Bad Girls since leaving the square, commented that she is "looking forward to playing Mandy again - it will be interesting to see what she's been up to all this time. I'm excited to be coming back and working with some old friends".
Apparently Ian Beale discovers Mandy in a strip club and comes to her rescue, vowing to help her turn her life around.
In a possible related storyline, Beale (Adam Woodyatt) was seen filming scenes approaching a prostitute last week who turns out to be a policewoman.
Stapleton will re-emerge on our screens in EastEnders in the autumn.
