A new 10-episode series of Dallas has just been confirmed according to Entertainment Weekly.
The show takes up the Southfork story some twenty years on – the original series ended in 1991 – and will focus on the offspring of the Ewing family, the oil and cattle barons who ran the sprawling Southfork Ranch in Texas.
Last month RTÉ Ten spoke with Patrick Duffy, who will reprise his role of Bobby Ewing, at the Monte Carlo TV festival. The still sprightly sexagenarian confirmed that Larry Hagman (JR Ewing) and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen Ewing) had shot the pilot last March. Duffy’s son was also in the TNT pilot which is scheduled to be screened this autumn.
“TNT has explored the possibility of an updated version of Dallas for several years, but it wasn’t until we read Cynthia Cidre’s outstanding pilot script that we knew we had the foundation for a great new series,” said Michael Wright head of programming for TNT. “It is incredibly exciting to see both new and familiar characters in the hands of a dream cast.”
Dallas will air in the US next summer.
