It has been announced by the producers of Coronation Street that luckless Tyrone Dobbs is set to find a new love interest shortly.
Police Officer Kirsty Soames, who will be played by Natalie Gumede, will make her on-screen debut later this year. The relationship between her and Tyrone will be far from a smooth affair, as Tyrone tries to get over his ex-wife Molly.
Guemede commented on her casting saying: "As a Northern lass who's grown up watching Corrie, I already feel at home on those famous cobbles. From the moment I read the script I knew I was going to love playing Kirsty and I can't wait to see how the story unfolds."
"This is a dream role for me and I'm looking forward to creating a huge storm in Weatherfield."
Guemede has previously appeared in Doctors and Emmerdale.
