Oasis split over advert demand

Noel Gallagher has revealed that Oasis split up over an advert. According to the band’s former guitarist, who was speaking in London yesterday, the straw that broke this camel’s back was brother Liam’s demands for a free advert for his clothing range, Pretty Green.

The constantly warring siblings, who rarely saw eye-to-eye, were at odds on the issue which then escalated into a full-blown bust-up. On the night in Paris in 2009, when Noel decided to leave the band, he says that his brother came at him in his dressing-room, wielding a guitar like 'an axe'. "He nearly took my face off with it," he said.

Gallagher was talking at the launch of his new solo album, the modestly titled Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, which is due for release in Autumn. He has also completed a second album which is scheduled for release twelve months later.
