Samantha Mumba has revealed that she has become engaged to her boyfriend Torray Scales, an American policeman.
The 28-year-old pop star and actress spoke at the launch of the Christmas pantomime Robinson Crusoe and the Caribbean Pirates in which she will play the character Girl Friday.
Mumba told The Irish Independent: "From day one I always said the best thing I would ever do is be married and have kids. I am really looking forward to starting a whole new chapter. I can say this is the happiest I have ever been in my life."
She described her engagement ring as "a big solitaire stone with a bunch of stones around the side", although she covered the ring with her right hand as she made her way to a photocall at Dublin's Gaiety Theatre yesterday.
Mumba explained that she didn't want to show off the ring as she "didn't want to cheapen it with the costume".
The singer added that signing up for the Dublin panto has meant she has to postpone the wedding until next year.
She said: "We would have done it this year had it not been for the panto. But I'm just so happy after Torray proposed last weekend in Newport Beach. It came as a total surprise."
