Glee heart-throb Corey Monteith has revealed that he went to rehab to battle drink and drug problems when he was just 19-years-old.

The actor, who is now 29-years-old, plays squeaky clean Finn Hudson in the musical show. He admitted to US magazine Parade that he was a high school drop-out and would smoke pot and get drunk when he was 13-years-old.

At 16 Monteith quit school and by 19 the star checked himself into rehab, after he was caught stealing money from a family member.

Parade magazine editor Maggie Murphy said: “The family came together and basically said 'If you don’t get yourself under control, we are going to go to the police and press charges'. This became a serious wake up call."

She added: "Cory's message overall is 'I was as bad off as anybody could be and I found my way back'."

Speaking to the magazine, Monteith said: "I'm lucky to be alive,"
