After 1,372 pieces of music and five days, Dublin guitarist Dave Browne has broken the Guinness World Record for playing guitar continuously.
Browne, who began his world record attempt on Sunday at 4pm in The Temple Bar pub, played guitar continuously for 114 hours and 20 minutes, beating the previous record of 113 hours.
Under the rules the guitarist, who performs regularly at The Temple Bar pub, was allowed a 30-second break between songs and a 40-minute break every eight hours.
However, 90 hours into his bid Browne discovered that the world record stood at 113 hours and not 100 as had been previously thought.
"It was something of a shock to discover it but knowing Dave's incredible drive and determination, it spurred him on when I broke the news to him," said pub manager Martin Deegan. "He is an inspiration to us all."
After receiving his Guinness World Record certificate on Friday Browne said: "I am absolutely ecstatic! It feels surreal. I have to say I am incredibly lucky to have had such great support from friends, family and fellow musicians and visitors to the pub as they really kept me going.
"It was an amazing experience. A special thanks has to go to all the guys at The Temple Bar pub and Guinness Ireland as without them, this wouldn't have happened."
Among those who joined Browne during his world record bid were Colm Ó Snodaigh from Kíla, Nick Kelly of The Fat Lady Sings, drummer Barry Campbell from Blink, Dublin band Tarantella Fall and Temple Bar pub regulars such as Lad Lane, The Sullivan Brothers, Clare Malone from The Commitments, Dave Browne from Picturehouse, Phelim Drew, Francie Conway, Clare Peelo, Steven Carroll, Dave Lewis, Sharon O'Brien, and Jenny Duffy.
