Christine Bleakley has spoken about her engagement to Chelsea footballer Frank Lampard.

Bleakley and Lampard's engagement was confirmed yesterday, with a spokesperson adding that the "delighted" couple had "no immediate wedding plans".

According to Digital Spy, the TV presenter spoke live from Los Angeles on ITV's ‘Daybreak’, where Kate Garraway is currently presenting alongside Adrian Chiles.

Bleakley said of the proposal: "I was beyond shocked. It wasn't glamorous. It wasn't very fancy, I know some people might expect that. It was very personal, very private actually.

"We were just having a gorgeous lunch by the beach and he simply popped the question. It was completely out of the blue.

“He started to build up to it and got a little bit lovey dovey - half way through the lovely dovey bit, I realised what he was about to do!"

The 32-year-old added: "I started to cry. I cried for about ten minutes. Then he pulled the ring out and said, 'Will you marry me?' and that was it.

“I'm so giggly and it sounds so ridiculous because it's obviously just the two of us over here at the minute.

"We kind of feel like we're on cloud nine, up in our own little bubble. It's all a bit odd and we can't wait to get home and see everybody. It feels surreal to be honest."

Bleakley also confirmed that Lampard had "done the right thing" by speaking to her parents about his plan beforehand.

She continued: "He had it all organised. Funnily enough, because I'm such a nosey cow, he thought that if he brought the ring over, I would find it in the suitcase.

“So one of his best mates, who works out here, flew out with the ring in advance.

"It was like a military operation to make sure I got the ring without ever having seen it previously! It was all organised about three months leading up to this day."

On when the big day is, Bleakley added: "I can assure everybody that it won't be anytime relatively soon. We're just going to enjoy the period. It's all a bit crazy!"
