Tom Cruise is in negotiations to star as author Lee Child's much-loved hero Jack Reacher in an adaptation of the bestseller 'One Shot'.
Deadline.com reports that the film will be directed by 'The Usual Suspects' writer Christopher McQuarrie from his own script.
In Child's books, the character of Reacher is taller and more physically powerful than Cruise, but the website says that the author is excited about the possibility of Cruise starring in the movie.
"Reacher's size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way," he said.
